Tartaruga caretta caretta
The loggerhead turtle is the species that swims into the water of the Adriatic sea.
The tortoise shell (the higher part of the turtle that is also his back) is brown colored, the plastron, instead, is yellowish – tan colored.
When they are younger, their prey are generally planktons (ex. Jellyfish) while, when they are older, they prefer benthic like crustaceans and mollusks.
The nutrition zone is mainly located in the North Adriatic sea while the nesting parts are located in Puglia, Calabria, Sicily and Sardinia.
